Women Asylum
Seeker and Refugee
Awareness and Advocacy Event- 24th March at Zion Arts
Centre,
355 Stretford Road
, Manchester M15 5ZA
.
The Arise and Shine advocacy project, funded
by North West Together We Can, aims to increase understanding of
the issues faced by women asylum seekers and refugees among those
who provide services to this community or play a role in developing
policy which touches them in some way. We want to create new
channels of communication between these marginalised women and
service providers and policy makers.
The event is in two parts:
- A play calledHow I Became an Asylum Seeker by Lydia Besong, performed by Women Asylum Seekers Together (WAST), 3-4pm
- A discussion and workshop facilitated by women asylum seekers from the Arise and Shine campaign steering group, 4.30pm-5.40pm
