Working in Neighbourhoods: Elected members pilot
Neighbourhoods NW has been working in partnership with North West Employers Organisation (NWEO) to adapted and deliver their Working in Neighbourhoods programme to Elected Members from across the North West. The course, which has already been run across the region to great acclaim, was originally designed for frontline community workers and active residents and has now been successfully adapted for delivery to Elected Members.
Elizabeth Boylan, Neighbourhoods NW's Training & Development Officer, worked alongside Val Slater from NWEO to re-design and adapt the reference material and programme delivery to make it a relevant and supportive programme for Elected Members. They then delivered the pilot programme to a group of Elected Members from all over the region.
The programme, we're pleased to say, was a great success with all of the Elected Members who took part rating it highly. NWEO are hoping to deliver two more courses in the new year.
Some participants commented;
"I really enjoyed the course, I have learned a lot. I look forward to the next course."
"This course 'hit the spot'. it was delivered in such a way that it has inspired me to want to put learning into action. Formal learning delivered in an informal way. Met some lovely people from across the region."
"I found the course very informative, relaxed and enjoyable. The course content was valuable and relevant. It was extremely well presented and the group gelled well. The interaction between participants, from different areas and different political persuasions was very constructive and a lot could be taken from these interactions. All in all a very worthwhile five days. The venue and facilities were excellent."
